This 2-day course is designed for developers who create documents
for users using BrioQuery Explorer or Designer and for people who
need to create customized front-ends using BrioQuery's EIS functionality.
The class begins with introductory concepts and moves into programming
techniques. This course focuses on developing an understanding of
the JavaScript syntax and object framework, specifically as it applies
to interacting with BrioQuery document elements.
In this class, students will learn:
- how JavaScript can be used to script and control Brio Client
documents (an introduction)
- how JavaScript programs are interpreted by the Brio engine and
are used to provide dynamic control of BrioQuery document
- how Documents enhanced with JavaScript are able to respond to
user interaction
- how within the Brio Client, JavaScript is used to respond to
user events and the document lifecycle
Prerequisites:
- A thorough understanding of Brio’s Explorer product is
required for this course.
- It is recommended that students complete either of the following
courses prior to taking this class:Explorer 6 or Fast Track to
Query and Analysis 6.
- Participants should be able to demonstrate familiarity with
Microsoft Windows 9.x, XP, 2000 or NT environment.
- An understanding of SQL and some experience with any programming
language such as Visual Basic, Office Macros, HyperTalk, or any
Unix scripting language (perl, shell, etc.) is useful, but not
required.
