Brio Mid Atlantic Users Group Meeting - Tuesday, April 8, 2003

We would like to thank the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) for hosting this meeting.

1. Special Presentation by Socs Cappas, CEO of QIQ Solutions:

The newest version of Brio's Performance Suite introduces the exciting Zero Client capability for BQY documents.  An organization can now deploy dashboards to people who do not have any Brio software on their desktop.  The Brio iServer renders BQY sections as DHTML pages that can be viewed and interacted with via a web browser.  This presents great benefits and opportunities, but it does also presents some challenges.
  • Architectural Differences - where is the BQY anyway?
  • Platform differences - is the flavor of Brio significant?
  • Audience differences - can you afford not to have dashboards?
  • Maintenance and Extensibility - how to keep abreast with change?
This presentation is by Socs Cappas, CEO of QIQ Solutions, who have successfully made their ES Designer dashboards work equally well on a variety of Brio versions and flavors on Windows, Mac, Unix and iServer environments.  Built upon a framework these offer a simple, consistent, multi-lingual user interface that can be extended through the addition of custom plug-and-play components.  An upgrade utility is provided with version 8 of ES Designer to convert version 6 dashboards into a form that can be deployed on any Brio platform including the iServer.

2. Integration Tips for Brio Intelligence by Mark Ostroff, Brio Software:

See how to use BI dashboards to create:
  • MS Word DOC files containing BQY data

  • A visual catalogue (ie, pictures along with your textual data)
